01What We Do Not Collect

  • No browsing history, URLs, or page content
  • No keystroke logging — key interception happens locally and is never transmitted or stored anywhere outside your browser
  • No analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, or cookies
  • No account, email address, or personal profile

02Data Stored Locally

Everything below stays in chrome.storage.local on your device and is never uploaded:

KeyContents
vks_rulesYour shortcut rules (key, modifiers, website scope, enabled state)
vks_configGlobal on/off switch and Premium status flag
vkt_license_vktshortcutYour license key and its expiry date, if you activated one
vkt_last_validate_vktshortcutTimestamp of the last successful license check
vkt_install_idA random identifier generated for this installation (see section 3)

03Network Requests (License Only, Optional)

If — and only if — you enter a license key, the extension sends a request to the developer's license server:

https://api.annmax1983.com/api/license/ (activate · validate · deactivate)

Each request carries only the following:

  • License key — the key you entered.
  • Plugin id — the constant string vktshortcut.
  • Install id — a random identifier generated locally on first activation (vkt_inst_ + 32 random hex characters). It contains no device or personal information and cannot be used to identify you or your hardware.
  • Device metadata — browser name and version, the full user-agent string (which can include the browser version and operating system), browser UI language, and time zone. This is used only to show your activated installations in the license dashboard.
Without a license key, the extension makes no network requests at all. The free tier is fully functional offline.

Our license server records the IP address of these requests solely for rate limiting and abuse prevention — never for profiling, advertising, or sharing with third parties.

04Permissions and Why They Are Needed

These are the only permissions the extension requests:

PermissionPurpose
storageSave your rules, settings, and license information locally.
sidePanelDisplay the rule management interface in the browser side panel.
https://api.annmax1983.com/*Allow the license activation request described in section 3. No other host is contacted.
Content script on all sitesShortcut blocking and remapping must be able to run on whatever page you are viewing, so a small script is injected into web pages at document_start. It only reads keyboard events, compares them against your local rules, and blocks or redirects the matching ones. It does not read, modify, or transmit page content.

05Third-Party Services

None. There are no analytics providers, ad networks, crash reporters, or tracking SDKs in this extension.

06Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. License data is transmitted only to the developer's own license server, and is used solely to verify a license key you provided.

07Your Control Over Your Data

  • Rules and settings — delete individual rules in the side panel, or remove everything by uninstalling the extension.
  • License — click Remove in Settings to delete the stored license key and release the activation slot on the server.
  • All local data — uninstalling the extension deletes all locally stored data.

08Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

09Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page with a new date. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
