VKT Item Pin Privacy Policy

Short version: VKT Item Pin saves product snapshots (title, price, model, link, image) only in your browser. Page content is read locally to extract product information — when you capture a product, and again when you reopen a product page you have already saved so its price history stays current. Nothing is ever uploaded. Network access is limited to the optional Pro license activation (which sends your license key and basic browser info to the license server) and to saved product thumbnails, which the popup and dashboard load directly from the original store's URL.

01Data Collection

VKT Item Pin does not collect or upload any of the following:

  • Browsing history, or the content of pages you have not saved to ItemPin
  • Usage analytics or telemetry
  • Cookies or tracking identifiers
  • Your captured data — snapshots are stored locally and never sent to any server

02Permissions

VKT Item Pin uses these permissions to capture product snapshots on shopping pages:

  • storage — Saves your captured product snapshots and settings locally in storage.local.
  • activeTab — Accesses the current tab only when you hover the Pin button or trigger a capture.
  • scripting — Injects the extraction code on demand to read product information (title, price, model) from the page you are viewing.
  • Host access — Lets the Pin button and one-click capture work on shopping sites. Page content is processed locally only; nothing is uploaded.
  • notifications — Shows a local system notification when a tracked product reaches the target price you set. No server is involved.
Host access covers all sites so the Pin button works on any shop you browse. It is used solely to extract product information — at your request, or automatically for product pages already in your library — never to monitor your browsing in the background.

03Data Storage

Captured snapshots are stored locally in your browser using storage.local. You can export or delete them anytime from the dashboard. A saved product page you visit again has its price refreshed automatically (at most one price point per day), still entirely on your device. All data is deleted when you uninstall the extension.

04License Activation & Network

Free use works without any required network connection for capturing. If you activate a Pro license, VKT Item Pin sends your license key, a random install identifier, and basic browser info (browser version, language, timezone) to our license server (api.annmax1983.com) to validate the license. No page content or captured data is ever sent. Our license server records the IP address of these requests solely for rate limiting and abuse prevention — never for profiling, advertising, or sharing with third parties.

05Third-Party Links

The extension footer links to our website, GitHub repository, and a voluntary Ko-fi support page. Visiting those sites is subject to their own privacy policies.

06Data retention & deletion

Your settings and content stay in your browser until you delete them in the extension or uninstall it. Uninstalling removes the extension's local data. Nothing is retained on our servers, because your content is never sent to them.

07Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page with a new date. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
